Do you wish to join personal pilates class but concern about the cost and may not comfortable with one-on-one lesson?
You may feel unsure about the movement and not enough attention for you in the group class.
At Kula, 3 people will be the maximum for each class. Kula instructor will conduct brief consultation prior to each class and observe clients’ condition, weakness and movement habits. After the first warm up and stretch time, we provide different menus for each individual clients with using various pilates equipments. Therefore we can offer customised menus to fit all clients with their suitable level. You don’t have to worry about thre fitness level of other clients in the same lesson because you will be given the different menus on different equipments from others and focusing what you do!
Consistency is the key to improve the physical condition and maintain the healthy body and mind. However we understand that it is not possible sometimes due to the cost for private lessons.
At Kula, our fee per class is almost as low as the group lessons at other studio yet you will have customised menus individually at the each class and more attentions by the instructor.
2.Customised menus at each lesson for everyone to fit your physical condition

Our body conditions change every day. You may be suffering from stiff back, tight hip joint due to long driving after holiday or simply don’t feel like exercise too much and prefer more stretch today… Or on contrary, you may want to be pushed a little to gain muscles some days. We will consult with you about what kind of level your body needs every time you come to the lesson. We will observe each client closely and recommend different modification/progression and pilates props to cater to different clients in every lessons just for you to fit your physical needs.
Every bodies are different anatomically due to the bone structure, muscle build, its flexibility etc. Same movement with same resistant may not work to other client or it can be a cause of injury sometimes. We believe that everyone will have different ways to train their bodies efficiently. At Kula, we provide various repertoire with full equipment to achieve your physical goal with fun.
We believe getting to know your own body would be the first step for physical health. That leads to own physical awareness and we hope you will be conscious of your habit in daily life as well.
I love to push myself a little when I exercise most of the times. However I have lazy days sometimes that I don’t feel like having though exercises. I know that if I completely don’t move my body, I feel guilty and my body start to get so stiff and heavy. I understand you have such days too. We will adjust the strength of exercise in such days like more stretch and light work out. Just let me know at the class! Most important thing is we spend time to take care our bodies.
3. We believe the class must be fun to continue.

We believe that one of the key to achieve healthy body is the consistent exercise routine. However we understand that that would be one of the hardest thing to achieve due to some reasons.
One of the reason that the class doesn’t motivate you to come back to the studio would be ‘the class is just not fun’.
Have you ever experienced the studio where you feel left out and not much interaction with instructors/other clients? It makes you feel so awkward and doesn’t excite you to go back to the studio again…
‘KULA’ is a Sanskrit word that can be translated as “community”,”clan” or “tribe”.
As our class is uniquely planned with max 3clients together, you may have some interactions with other people while in the class. We would love you to have friendly and fun class. Don’t worry you have happened to join in class with non-English speaking clients. I can be the translator and I promise you won’t feel left out!

4.You will know your body from clinical pilates class at Kula studio

Australia is so much advanced in terms of Pilates industry than Japan. Fortunately, I had such a great opportunity to deepen pilates method when I was in Australia. Pilates is being recognised as the exercise in between medical rehabilitation and general fitness in Australia.
The studio in Sydney where I used to work was with Physio therapy clinic. We had various type of clients from young to old, someone who doesn’t exercise at all or very active clients who wish to improve the performance for other sports.
I am very interested in movement functions and sports biomechanics. You will discover why you have some posture issues, movement difficulties as you enjoy my class. The advantage of semi-private class is that the instructor is able to observe closely to each individual clients and give proper instructions to everyone.
5.Bilingual class (English and Japanese)

We understand that it’s not easy to find the gym or fitness studio with English speaking instructors in Japan.
When my family relocated in Japan in 2024, I experienced how hard it is for English speaking members to join the local gym.
For Pilates, verbal cueing is essential to get client to pay attention to certain muscle, movement/body parts. If there will be language barrier, clients may not be able to engage the correct muscle therefore the exercise will be less effective.
I have come across some non-Japanese speaking friends who gave up on continuing exercising due to language issue here. We wish to help them being active and healthy during time in Japan.
6.Pilates is perfect exercise for absolutely EVERYONE!
(Especially 40’s/50’s and above)

I first had my very first pilates class when I was over 40.
I used to be very active when I was younger however when I reached 40 and after birth of 3 children, I started to feel that I had to find different type of exercise which focus on movement function and the strengthening of deep muscle. I look healthy but I had experienced most of common physical discomfort/pain before.
I still remember that I woke up feeling different in the next morning after I had pilates class. Eventually I found out that my back issue was due to my weak core muscle and flat back(very common among Asian ladies). I started to have less issue with my body especially my lower back as I continue my pilates class.
I don’t like to recommend things blindly to anyone and I have to experienced myself to believe it. Pilates is one of things that I truly feel everyone can benefit from.
My pilates mentor in Sydney always tells:-

Trial lesson
Please arrive 10minute prior to the class time.
There is a changing room in the studio. Restroom is located on the 2F of Motomachi plaza.
We conduct brief counselling to check your posture, movement habit and flexibility through pre-pilates.
It is essential to prepare your body for exercise. We conduct some stretch and basic pilates movement. For pilates beginners, you will be introduced basic pilates breathing and movement here.
After consulting your body concern from Step2, we will construct your own menus.
Enjoy your “Me time”!
We will suggest you to finish the class with some cool down stretch. We believe that cool down process is as important as warm up.
